Your week of cooking classes offers hands-on experiences with local chefs. Tequila tastings and three cultural evenings that feature what Guadalajara is famous for: Mariachi, Tequila and Charros/Mexican Cowboys.

  YOUR PACKAGE/ITINERARY INCLUDES:
  • Your tour escort for the entire itinerary, Jude Pauline Artenstein, commencing at your hotel in Guadalajara.
  • Sunday evening, we all get acquainted over cocktails and a delicious dinner at one of Guadalajara's finest restaurants.
  • Monday mid-morning, we will enjoy a guided tour of Mercado Libertad/Liberty Market, said to be Latin America's largest indoor/outdoor market. We return to our participation cooking class and get familiar with Mexico's legendary chili peppers. Dried and fresh, stuffed and made into salsas, Poblanos, Pasillas, Ancho, Guajillos, Habaneros, they will no longer be a mystery. Lunch. Evening free.
  • Tuesday mid-morning, a participation cooking class on Mexican Seafood specialties. Get ready for Ceviche on crispy tostadas, Pescado Frito/Whole Fried Fish, Steamed Fish with Tomatillo-Pasilla Sauce, and Siete Mares/7 Seas Soup. Lunch. Afternoon free.
  • Wednesday early evening, we will gather at one of the city's unique bars to attend a Tequila tasting. Appetizers will accompany our tasting. A Tequila Expert will guide us as we sample, Blanco, Reposado and Anejo 100% Agave Tequilas. We will be joined for dinner by a local celebrity Charro, a true steer-roping, silver costume studded, cowboy, adored by the people of Guadalajara. Over dinner he will share with us the story of Mexican Cowboy culture derived from Spanish horsemen.
  • Thursday mid-day, we have a participation cooking class specializing in Carne Asada, it is never just a grilled steak, it's a classic combination plate accompanied by all the trimmings, grilled scallions, guacamole, savory beans, cheese enchilada, and of course, tortillas and salsa. You will be able to return home and replicate Guadalajara's favorite meal. Lunch. Evening free.
  • Friday mid-morning, we all make Tamales. Small tamales traditionally served at family reunions, spicy tamales filled with chicken and red chiles, sweet pineapple and raisin or honey and corn tamales, both banana leaf and corn husk wrappers will be used. Lunch. Afternoon free.
  • Friday early evening, we take a leisurely stroll on the Plaza of the Mariachis. A musical experience where locals and tourists mingle beside strolling Mariachi groups along this cafe line Plaza. An evening you will not soon forget.
  • Saturday mid-morning, today's class is about "street food." Mexico is a country in love with its food vendors, their humble carts offer an inspired array of culinary delights. We will prepare mouthwatering "street tacos" tucked full of grilled meat, or fish, or squash blossoms. To celebrate the conclusion of our culinary journey we will all participate in making fruit Margaritas, mango, guava and lime, for a farewell toast to our new culinary skills and shared friendship. Lunch. Afternoon free.
  • Sunday is a travel day home, unless you are continuing your stay in Guadalajara or journey elsewhere in Mexico.

  • Payment of 50% must accompany each reservation.
  • Balance of payment is due 45 days prior to departure date.
  • Cancellation. Reservation payment is refundable, less $200 administrative fee up to 45 days prior to departure date.
  • No refunds can be given for cancellations less than 45 days prior to departure.
  • Cancellation Insurance is recommended, an application for coverage will accompany your reservation receipt.
  • A more detailed itinerary will accompany your balance of payment receipt.
